Governance

Perimeter Institute is an independent, not-for-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from the private sector and academic community. A Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) made up of eminent international scientists provides third party, independent reviews and reports to the Board on the institute’s scientific progress. Regular independent financial and peer-reviewed scientific audits provide accountability to the institute’s funders and stakeholders.

Board of Directors

Perimeter Institute's Board of Directors is the final authority on all matters related to the general structure and development of the organization. Financial planning, accountability, and investment strategy are carried out by the Board’s Investment and Finance & Audit Committees. The Board also forms other committees as required to assist it in discharging its duties.

Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC)

A Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), composed of eminent scientists drawn from the international community, is an integral oversight body that assists the Board and ensures objectivity and a high standard of scientific excellence.

Director

Perimeter Institute's Director Robert Myers reports to the Board and is responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategic direction of the organization.

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

As COO, Michael Duschenes reports to the Director and is in charge of the day-to-day operations of Perimeter Institute. Support for the COO is provided by a team of administrative staff.

Perimeter’s Community

Perimeter Institute's resident scientists, including Faculty members, play an active role in scientific operational issues via participation on various committees. Committee Chairs report to the Director.
