2017-2018 CLASSICAL WORLD ARTISTS SEASON

VOX LUMINIS
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2017 AT 7:30 PM

With 12 voices, gamba and an organ, Perimeter’s four-storey atrium will be filled with the angelic sounds of one of Europe’s leading early music ensembles.

Vox Luminis, founded in 2004 in Namur, Belgium, has been praised for its seamless blend of high-quality individual voices, exquisite tuning, and clarity of sound. After a performance in the acclaimed Miller Theater Early Music Series in February 2016, the New York Times called the group’s program “revelatory,” adding that the singers “blended beautifully.” We are looking forward to hearing their soaring voices in our beautiful glass atrium.

JUHO POHJONEN, PIANO
THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 2018 AT 7:30 PM

A few seasons ago, pianist Juho Pohjonen accompanied cellist Christian Poltéra in a crowd pleasing concert. We knew once the performance was over that Juho needed to come back and perform his own solo recital.

As one of the brightest young instrumental artists to emerge from Finland, Juho Pohjonen has attracted great attention. He is now one of the Nordic country's most intriguing and talented pianists. His interpretations are known for their intensity, thoughtfulness and fearless musical conviction. We are delighted to have Juho back on our stage again.

XueFEI YANG, GUITAR
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2018 AT 7:30 PM

Born following the Cultural Revolution, an era when Western music and instruments were banned in China, the fascinating story of Xuefei Yang’s rise to the world stage is that of a musical pioneer.

She was the first guitarist in China to enter a music school, and became the first to launch an international professional career. Her prodigious talent came to the attention of John Williams who donated two of his own guitars to her conservatorium. Since then, “Fei” has been impressing audiences around the globe with her exquisite sound and powerfully emotional performances of repertoire both old and new.  We look forward to hosting Fei in our intimate theatre.

BENEDETTI ELSCHENBROICH GRYNYUK TRIO
FRIDAY, APRIL 13, 2018 AT 7:30 PM

While each has earned acclaim as a leading soloist, violinist Nicola Benedetti, cellist Leonard Elschenbroich, and pianist Alexei Grynyuk, have been performing together since they met as young music students in London.

In 2009, they made their debut with multiple concerts in the UK. Since then they have maintained their passionate commitment to chamber music with compelling performances at prestigious concert halls around the world. This powerhouse trio complete Perimeter’s 2017-18 season and will leave you wishing for more.

These cultural and bistro events are ancillary activities made possible through paid ticketing, private donors, and sponsorships.
