Location note: The course will meet instead in QNC 1501 on June 2, June 9, and July 14.

Grading: 70% of the grade will come from problem sets (suitably processed) and 30% from the final project. The final project will consist of a paper and presentation of material from research papers on a topic related to the subject of the class.

The textbook (a work in progress), Surviving as a Quantum Computer in a Classical World, will be available in class. Please send any comments you may have on it to me. Also, please do not distribute copies of the book outside the class.

Problem set #1 (PDF): Due May 26

Problem set #2 (PDF): Due June 9

Problem set #3 ((PDF): Due June 23

Problem set #4 ((PDF): Due July 7

Final Project

I recommend that students tell me the subject of their final project by June 30. Then we will discuss which research papers (usually 1-3, depending on size) to cover.

Due: July 21, written term paper plus a presentation to the class
Recommended length: about 20 pages
Length of presentation: roughly 20 minutes (subject to change, depending on the number of projects)

This is not an exhaustive list. If you want a subject not on this list, let me know and we can discuss if it is acceptable.
